Orlando By Night…

Paris by Night, one of my favorite books, was photographed by Brassai in the 1930’s. I love his dramatic black and white photographs, how he took his time to get to know Paris before taking his first pictures, and how he timed the length of his exposures by using cigarettes. I have been thinking about this statue for a while, and I wanted to create my own version of Orlando at night in color (sans the cigarette). Somehow I don’t think Brassai would mind.

This was photographed during twilight at the Plaza in downtown Orlando using an 8mm circular fisheye lens. I like how the lens enveloped the city in a circle, and everything seems pulled together in a unified way. I used Adobe Camera Raw to optimize the image, followed up with Lucis Pro and the new Nik Viveza 2. Hi Thomas,
I’m sure you’ll enjoy the 8mm lens very much.My friend suggested a right angle viewer, which has been very helpful. Good luck with Jim’ Z’s course! I look forward to having you in class.
    Take care,
    ~ Deb
