Taxi in Cuba with Nik HDR Efex Pro…

Taxi’s in Cuba are abundant and usually in the form of old American cars like this Plymouth that I photographed in Trinidad. The color and detail was enhanced through the process of HDR with Nik HDR Efex Pro, an easy to use, yet sophisticated application for merging HDR imagery. I loved that there were two old American cars parked in the same alley, a lucky find after a lot of walking, and a step back in time.

Some of the latest and greatest new cameras have quick HDR features and options, so it may be a tweak or two with plug-ins such as Nik Tonal Contrast or Detail Extractor that makes a nice difference in the final image. The subject matter will often suggest what direction to take the image, photorealistic, surrealistic or somewhere in between, you are the artist, you get to decide!

Have fun shooting! ~ Deb

Just out of curiosity, was this a single frame HDR from raw or multiple exposures? Handheld or tripod? A great image!

Thank you, 3 exposure HDR, tripod, (the old fashioned way) however I’m anxious to try the in-camera HDR options too!

Nice shot, Deb. I think it is nice that some cameras have the built-in HDR stuff, but nothing beats doing it the “old-fashioned” way by taking, merging and mapping your own brackets. But, I guess really it doesn’t matter as long as you get the results your are looking for. That’s the most important part. With that said, disregard everything I just said.. hehe. 😉
