Feather Count…

The Alligator Farm in St. Augustine is a wonderful place for birds and bird photography. The rookery is well established and birds return each year to nest. Everything is right within easy shooting distance of a boardwalk that winds through the rookery and above the alligators. It’s “the” place to be in the spring and early summer.
The sights and sounds are amazing. There are egrets, herons, ibis, roseate spoonbills and many more bird species. If you look hard, you might see a night heron or two.
This young egret was preening it’s feathers and had the most elegant pose. Sunlight caused the wing to have a translucent look.
