Bridge at twilight…

George P. Coleman bridge photographed during twilight in Yorktown, VA.

Last week wrapped up a wonderful workshop teaching with co-instructor Dr. Jason Odell. We had a great group of photographers join us in, and around the Williamsburg, Virginia area. We were lucky to have beautiful weather the entire time. No workshop would be complete without an evening shooting twilight! This is the George P. Coleman Bridge in Yorktown, VA. During twilight, the bridge looks absolutely glamorous with color, starbursts of light, and lovely reflections. Our workshop participants enjoyed working with variations in composition, white balance and technique to create their own interpretations of the scene. It was such fun seeing different versions during our image review session! Lots of talent in our group, from Canada to Trinidad and everywhere in between.

After the workshop, Jason and I gave an afternoon presentation to the Hampton Roads Digital Photography Club at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. We included some of our photos from the workshop, including infrared, long exposure and creative techniques, both in-camera and in post processing.  It was great to meet this talented group of enthusiastic photographers. I was asked a lot of questions about infrared and conversion, and I expect we’ll see some very cool infrared photos from HRDPC in the near future!

Deb, this is fantastic! The starbursts are delightful, and the soft color really makes this image “glow.”
