Get artistic this weekend with textures, plug-ins & filters….

Big ben at twilight with streaks of light from passing bus.

I like to subtly enhance photographs with the use of textures, filters and plug-ins. Sometimes it’s just a delicate touch that accentuates an image in a big way. For the long exposure of the image above, I used the new Topaz Labs Clarity to give more definition to the streaks of light from passing cars and  enhance the color in the image. Topaz Labs Clarity is new and you can still get it for the introductory price (today is the last day) using code claritynew. Click here to go to the Topaz Labs website.  Below is another example of using one of the cool and creative presets that you can modify to suit your own image.

Adding texture can change the look, mood and feeling of an image. I’m a big fan of Flypaper Textures as they offer a wonderful selection of textures and colors, and each can be modified to suit your particular photo with a Hue adjustment, or just removing the color. With textures, it’s all about the blend modes, altering how the texture layer blends with your photograph. Here is a link to my tutorial on textures.  Textures can provide endless opportunities for depth, definition and drama. Save on Flypaper Textures with code DEBS.

Try converting your images to Black and White for more impact with a fine art look. Eliminating color can make a tremendous difference in how the image is portrayed. The connotations of color are removed, light, shadow, tonality, pattern, all allow the subject to become very clear. I use the Nik Collection from Google, Nik Silver Efex Pro for long exposure black and white conversions.  For all the tools that accentuate creativity,  visit this page… Plug-in Savings.
